Have you ever tried to hire auditors? After 5+ years of talking to accounting firms about the challenges of hiring experienced accountants, we often hear recruiting managers telling us “We wish you had something we could use when we recruit auditors.” We took that on board, and although it’s taken 12 months to pull together, we now have a test for audit seniors and audit managers.
This test designed to help you confirm whether those lateral hires with 2 to 5 years external audit experience have the technical skills you need. The test covers areas of Audit Standards, Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS & US GAAP), Accounting and Analytical Review.
So many audit firms tell us they struggle with those moving in from other countries, or from other audit firms. We all know that relying on CV’s and Reference Checking is not a viable way to assess technical skills. Even good interviewing usually struggles to accurately assess this, or to differentiate between candidates. So here is a totally objective and scientific approach to allow you to benchmark candidates against each other but also against a well developed norm group of experienced auditors.
Our norm group was developed with candidates in the UK, Australia and New Zealand from Big 4 firms and a good spread of other firms with worldwide affiliations, with great feedback from those who helped us doing this.
