Basic Computing Skills Test


This test assesses whether your candidate can perform the absolute computing basics when working on laptops and PC’s and performing tasks in any cloud or PC based accounting software application.

Many clients use this test when recruiting entry level roles, people with limited computing experience to date, including people returning to the workforce after extended absences.

The test takes place in a simulated database/application environment where candidates must actually operate and manipulate the system to perform tasks and answer questions.

Topics covered:

Moving, Maximising & Prioritising Windows

Typing, including using arrows, alt & shift keys & backspace

Navigation, including pages, hyperlinks, dialogue tabs & scrolling


Mouse Operation, including right/left clicks, rolling, drag & drop, cursor changes, selecting from dropdown menus & checkboxes

Password creation & management

Editing, including menu commands, deleting and changing text

You should expect candidates to get at least 23 questions correct to demonstrate a grasp of the basics.
