Public Sector Accountant Test

The New Zealand Public Sector Accountant Test is designed for assessing the core accounting skills and knowledge of candidates applying for public sector accounting roles in organisations such as Government Ministries & Departments, Local Government & Councils, District Health Boards and their subsidiaries and State Owned Enterprises.

The test is aimed at accountant candidates who are either qualified members of a recognised accounting professional body, such as CPA Australia, CAANZ or international equivalent, are working towards qualification into a professional body, or have significant experience working as an accountant in a public sector organisation.

This test covers 5 core accounting activities:

  • Budgeting
  • Financial Health
  • Decision Making
  • Capital Budgeting
  • Tax & Financial Reporting

Recruiting managers gain insight into a candidate's skills and knowledge in each of these activities and identify performance in the activities most relevant to the vacant role, as well as a comparative overall score and performance against a norm group of other public sector accountants
